I really hate that the series has come to an end. I read one of his books a while back and was really disappointed (I finished it of course, because once you start, no matter how bad, you must go to the end. Or else it will torture you). Unfortunately, friends had spotted me with this book and so for my birthday a couple of weeks later I received another of his books. And again, I hated it. But the thing is that despite how strongly I feel about these books, my friend works at a bookstore and tells me about how people come in and swear by him all day and I really cannot figure it out. Maybe I am wrong? (no that is impossible, don't even go there... )but really, what is it people? Blarg! So thank you for the validation!
Cheers,
Leah

ps. first time reader but I really like your blog. I feel bad that I have books on my shelf that I have yet to get to. If only I can read and knit at the same time. I'm sure that if I tried I would end up with really bad results.pins&needleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14907087834165309841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29625742.post-23898048185628822882008-02-03T18:49:00.000-08:002008-02-03T18:49:00.000-08:002008-02-03T18:49:00.000-08:00B IS for books today! I'd still rather read than do practically anything else, if I've got a good book.

Hey, with your love of books and knitting, you might enjoy becoming a volunteer at http://librivox.org/ . We make free, public-domain audiobooks, and a great many of us are knitters, too :) (No Dan Brown at librivox either -- he's still under copyright, thank goodness ;-)Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08996110303732730901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29625742.post-72350818484664477982008-02-01T18:10:00.000-08:002008-02-01T18:10:00.000-08:002008-02-01T18:10:00.000-08:00I always read so much, too! Even in high school and beyond, I'd escape a party by picking up something (anything!) to read.

And also, while I adored Wicked, I hate the position Gregory Maguire's editors put him in, and I hate him even more for succumbing to them. By Lost his disdain for his own writing was palpable.Marlenahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14450713450633845806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29625742.post-80405287112552142822008-02-01T14:15:00.000-08:002008-02-01T14:15:00.000-08:002008-02-01T14:15:00.000-08:00I used to read so much in my childhood. There is nothing better than wandering round a book shop and going home with a brand new book - the exctitment and anticipation of what the future holds is so special. Anyway, I would walk to the library, which at the time was next to the park in downtown at the corner of Main and 50 (the old courthouse building). Back then, the library was musty, had old linoleum floors and the only chairs were those round stools you had to stand on to get books-I would roll one in a corner, between the stacks, and read for hours-Encyclopedia Brown's were a big fav. (see how old I am????).

BTW, any plans for going to Woolbearers soon?Deneenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12133271671966561594noreply@blogger.com
