I love to read too. I have read all the Harry Potter Series. I love the books I don't care how many people laughed at me about reading the books. I really hate that the series has come to an end. I like cookbooks too.

I just want to say I really appreciate your Gregory Maguire hate-on. I read one of his books a while back and was really disappointed (I finished it of course, because once you start, no matter how bad, you must go to the end. Or else it will torture you). Unfortunately, friends had spotted me with this book and so for my birthday a couple of weeks later I received another of his books. And again, I hated it. But the thing is that despite how strongly I feel about these books, my friend works at a bookstore and tells me about how people come in and swear by him all day and I really cannot figure it out. Maybe I am wrong? (no that is impossible, don't even go there... )but really, what is it people? Blarg! So thank you for the validation!

That song is great. I used to be bookish when I was kid and somewhere it kinda faded. Maybe that's the reason why I enjoy reading children's books than anything else. I feel bad that I have books on my shelf that I have yet to get to. If only I can read and knit at the same time. I'm sure that if I tried I would end up with really bad results.

One of my favorite book of all the time is "Achemist" by Paulo Coelho
Check out this book. it's Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago(main character) is an eternal testament to the transforming power of our dreams and the importance of listening of our hearts.

I practically grew up in the library. We'd go several times a week -- one of the two libraries near our house was open till 9pm. We'd could go after dinner and stay till closing! I'd still rather read than do practically anything else, if I've got a good book.

I always read so much, too! Even in high school and beyond, I'd escape a party by picking up something (anything!) to read.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are about or feature books/bookshop. There is nothing better than wandering round a book shop and going home with a brand new book - the exctitment and anticipation of what the future holds is so special. I've been that way too, for the same reasons. I know you're way younger than me, but when I was a kid, I lived in ML, one block in from the WaWa (then it was an A & P) in ML-(3rd and Hanthorn). Anyway, I would walk to the library, which at the time was next to the park in downtown at the corner of Main and 50 (the old courthouse building). Back then, the library was musty, had old linoleum floors and the only chairs were those round stools you had to stand on to get books-I would roll one in a corner, between the stacks, and read for hours-Encyclopedia Brown's were a big fav. (see how old I am????).

BTW, any plans for going to Woolbearers soon?
